Good afternoon,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
I’m soaking in the exciting developments in America, so this dispatch is coming later than usual.
Quick Thoughts

RIP, Bernie Marcus: Home Depot co-founder, free enterprise champion, and mensch.
Tonight at 8pm ET: Yellowstone Season 5, Part II gallops back to our TVs after a two-year hiatus.
Yesterday marked the 35th anniversary of the Berlin Wall falling.
Nature is healing: Three days after Trump was re-elected, the EU announced it wants to buy natural gas from us again to wean itself off of Russia.
Lithuania’s incoming center-left government is building a coalition with a notorious anti-semite, to spite conservatives. Even American Democrats are sounding the alarm.
That’s all for now. Stay tuned for next week’s dispatch on Friday!
Trump Triumphant With 2nd Victory
As I watched Election 2024 results pour in on Tuesday night, I felt a flashback to the 2016 election.
The mood was cautiously optimistic. Returns were slow, but decisive then. This week, not only did Donald J. Trump triumph a second time, his coattails got many down-ballot Republicans across the line in hotly contested House and Senate races. He even won the popular vote - 50.5% to Harris’ 48.5%- the first Republican to do so since George W. Bush won re-election in 2004.
Naturally, we saw the leftist media and consultant class go apoplectic and pointed fingers at Americans for giving Trump a second win. They have no one to blame but themselves.
Let’s be frank: VP Harris was a terrible candidate, who spoke in word salads and couldn’t divorce herself from her progressive record. The majority of Americans agreed and voted against her.
President-elect Trump secured 312 electoral votes—his most ever. Republicans flipped the Senate and will hold a 53-47 majority. And Congressional Republicans also look poised to maintain their control of the House of Representatives, albeit a narrow majority, once 20+ outstanding races are called.
Mr. Trump has a mandate now and if he is allowed to govern peacefully this go-around, I suspect many Americans - including those who didn’t vote for him - will be pleased and feeling financial and regulatory relief.
Of course there will be some things we disagree with. Conservatives and libertarians will need to hold 47 and his administration accountable if they stray from conservative/limited government principles. But I much prefer him winning than a would-be Harris-Walz administration.
We were spared, y’all. Having lived in California when VP Harris was attorney general, you don’t want those policies going national. Millions of us left the Golden State on account of politicians like Harris. That should tell you enough.
I’ll keep tabs of the Trump-Vance administration here on Substack, at my Townhall column, and at IWF. Be sure to follow and share this dispatch with those interested in an outsider’s take on the inner workings of Beltway happenings.
A great week in America, indeed.

America 🇺🇸 is back BUT! This is no time to grow comfortable and complacent. “The price of freedom is eternal VIGILANCE!”
Ok...first comment...George W. Bush didn't win "re-election in 2024." It was 2004. Yes, this is a nano-nit, but one worth picking.
Second...There is a paragraph in my version that reads "Let’s be frank: VP Harris was a terrible candidate, who spoke in word salads and couldn’t divorce herself from her progressive record. The majority of American" There is no ending, no completion of this thought. This more nit than nano-nit.
Third..."Mr. Trump has a mandate now...: Personally, i wouldn't have used the word 'mandate' as 2.5 percent is pales in comparison to Reagan's 18 percent in 1984 and Johnson's 23 percent in 1964. Those were mandates. Regardless, there is no doubt who won. Why is a question that will be pondered by future progressive apologists. Doesn't really matter why, though.
OK...all nit-picking aside, I enjoyed your post, and for that I thank you. But remember, we are squarely in the crosshairs now. In two years, if we are not "feeling financial and regulatory relief," were going to be in deep doo-doo. We will be blamed for everything under the sun, and some that isn't. What ever he does, he needs to get it right and get it right the first time! No do-overs. Ms. Harris should be lamenting her "do-over" on fracking.
As a nation, unanimity of views is never an option, but acting together is imperative, and I pray that Mr. Trump can put aside our political strife and focus on making the country a better place to live. He would be wise to build his presidency around energy - it's importance to our economy, it's importance to world security, and it's importance for humanity to thrive.
Do you have an editor of your posts? Someone to do a quick read to make certain the red-faced test is passed? Might be worth considering. Just sayin'
