Viva Cuba Libre, Girl's Guide to DC, Under-21 Handgun Ban Unconstitutional
Here's the latest dispatch.
Good morning!
Welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder.
Here’s what I have for you:
Viva Cuba Libre: It’s Not Hard to Denounce Communism
Communism has killed over 100 million people globally. Sadly, it still lives on today in Cuba.
For 62 years, Cubans have suffered under it.
They aren’t protesting COVID-19 vaccine shortages; they’re protesting central planning. They’re shouting libertad and waving the American flag because they yearn to be free, have representative government, and own private property.
Independent journalists are being arrested. Freedom activists are disappearing and being murdered. And some stateside are convinced socialism is good? Shameful.
It’s long overdue for Cuba to be free. A united global front opposing communism can propel them to reclaim their independence.

EXCLUSIVE: I Spoke to the Plaintiffs in Hirschfeld vs. ATF
"I was a 20 year old student at the University of Virginia. I was living off grounds. I wanted to purchase a handgun to just keep in my home next to my bed and a lock safe. You know, one that I could quickly access for home defense—self defense. And I want to just purchase that and I went to do so and found out that I was unable to purchase a firearm or a handgun, rather, under the age of 21. And I felt that was, you know, an unconstitutional infringement upon my Second Amendment rights. And I sought Elliott's counsel and we brought suit." — Hirschfeld vs ATF co-plaintiff Tanner Hirschfeld said on District of Conservation
In Episode 195 of District of Conservation, I exclusively sat down with Hirschfeld v. ATF co-plaintiff Tanner Hirschfeld and his lawyer, Elliott Harding, to discuss their victory at the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday. They discuss the impetus behind the lawsuit, next steps, possible Supreme Court considerations, and legal precedent to not bar young people from owning and purchasing handguns.
