Threads Won't Destroy Twitter. It's a Good Supplement Though.

For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Threads By Instagram: A Worthy Twitter Rival?
Like millions of you, I signed up for Threads by Instagram this week. I even pre-downloaded it in anticipation of its release, just to see what the commotion was about.
What compelled me to do so, even with its apparent data mining concerns? Well, it obviously wasn’t to make it the “Twitter Killer.” The integration with Instagram is enough to lure me in. But it’s severely lacking in key ways.
Will it adopt some missing features like a Desktop version, Insights, an edit button, and feed to see only those you follow? Will it suffer from low engagement like Instagram, a platform catering to video sharing to the detriment of its photo-sharing origins?
Given Threads’ rollout - although it has over 70 million downloads - I’d say still has miles to go to be remotely like Twitter. (Twitter immediately threatened Threads, likening it to a Twitter copycat - yikes!)
Even with its faults, I still like Twitter and it remains is my biggest platform. There are some improvements Elon Musk has made that I like; some other things, I’m not so privy about.
More competition is healthy. And maybe I’ll reach new people on Threads that I haven’t reached elsewhere yet.
