TX Knows Watts Up With Conservation & Women Aren't Past Their Prime
Here's the latest dispatch.
Good evening,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Quick Thoughts
Support and follow the work of IWF’s Center for Energy and Conservation today if you haven’t already. This week, our sister department, the Center for Economic Opportunity helmed by my friend and colleague Patrice Onwuka, celebrated its 3rd anniversary today.
No joke: My parents celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on April Fool’s Day.
Former EPA Administrator Wheeler, who served as director of the Office of Regulatory Management in the Youngkin administration, resigned from his post before Easter.
Georgia Power’s Vogtle Unit 4 has achieved 100% power this week and will be fully operational by the summer. A big win for nuclear energy!
I’m in rare agreement with non-hunters: Save barred owls in the Pacific NW from being wiped out by culling. They don’t need to be sacrificed for spotted owls.
That’s it for the week. Stay tuned for next Friday’s update!
Spring ‘24 CIC Tour Concludes in Texas
This week, I concluded my spring 2024 “Conservation is Conservative” speaking tour in Huntsville, Texas, at Sam Houston State University.
Thank you to TPUSA chapter leader, Nick Walker, and his group for hosting my talk on campus. They said my presentation was one of the best they ever heard—how sweet is that?!
Here are some pictures from the event:
I will resume “Conservation is Conservative” campus tour stops in the fall. In the meantime, I’ll be traveling out West for my next film trip and heading south for our upcoming Professional Outdoor Media Association Annual Meeting before breaking for a couple months.
Thanks for following along and reading my updates!
Women In Their Early 30s Aren’t Past Their Prime
It was unacceptable when lefty and former CNN host Don Lemon said women in their 30s/40s/50s are past their prime. It’s equally unacceptable to see conservative pundit Charlie Kirk rehash this toxic message this week before a faith audience.
He said:
“We basically told a great generation of young women, ‘Don’t get married, don’t have kids, go get a corporate job,’ and it’s created mass political hysteria. And then in their early 30s, they get really upset because they say, ‘You know, the boys don’t want to date me anymore,’ because they’re not at their prime, and people get mad when I say that — well, it’s just true,” he said.
Kirk added, “You’re in your early 30s. I’m sorry; you’re not as attractive in the dating pool as you were in your early 20s, but again, you have your corporate job and cats, so I thought, you know. And I feel sorry for a lot of these young ladies.”
I take great issue with this statement and want to deconstruct what he said. The responses I received when commenting on the video were atrocious—ranging from totally unfounded accusations of being damaged goods to other misogynist drivel I don’t wish to repeat here.
First, I don’t know any conservative woman out there who wants to forgo marriage or having a family. Fake news. Second, many women in their 30s - early or not - aren’t voluntarily choosing to be single and unmarried. They’ve been dealt this card because a lot of guys don’t step up to ask them out and date them seriously. It takes two to tango. The problem is often a two-way street. Third, it’s 2024—not 1954. Women live longer and healthier lives. They can have healthy kids in their 30s. Men aren’t immune to aging either and can have virility issues, as well. Solely pinning the blame on women is unhelpful.
This red pilled, Andrew Tate-esque rhetoric - now mainstreamed by young conservatives - is unhelpful in luring women to the conservative movement and, by extension, the Republican Party.
As I said before, radical feminism and red pill trad-wifery are two extreme ends of the cultural spectrum that should be rejected. Women in their 30s can totally be in their prime. I’m currently at the prime of my life. I know many women are too. Guys in their 30s are at the prime in their life, as well.
Let us reserve talk about “prime” for prime numbers, prime rib, Amazon Prime, or primetime TV and not about putting silly expiration dates on women.
Thank you!
