Good morning!
Welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder.
Since I’m traveling this week, I’m bringing the Substack to you earlier.
Here’s what I have for you this week:
An Interview with Western Caucus Chair Rep. Newhouse
In Episode 221 of District of Conservation, I interview Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA). Rep. Newhouse took the helms of the caucus in January and is a fourth-term congressman representing Washington State's Fourth Congressional District.
Rep. Newhouse discusses their 30X30 alternative, Western Caucus priorities, how they are challenging the Biden administration, their new podcast, and much more.
Follow Rep. Newhouse online and on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Off to Michigan to Hunt Grouse and Woodcock
This week kicks off a few busy weeks of fall travel. First up: Michigan for grouse and woodcock hunting with Brownells for a ladies media trip.
In all my travels across the U.S., I’ve never set foot in the Great Lakes State. That changes this week. Excited to check it off my bucket list and experience peak foliage.
Follow along here to see how me and the other ladies do.
