Good morning!
Welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder.
Here’s what I have for you:
It’s Official!
In today’s POLITICO AM Playbook, my Independent Women’s Forum Visiting Fellow class is mentioned—yours truly included.
Here’s the official announcement from IWF dated July 16th:
Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) announced today its summer 2021 class of fellows: Baishali Bomjan, Maria Chaplia, Christina Crenshaw, Gabriella Hoffman,Jennifer Kabbany, Meaghan Mobbs, Jean Morrow, Abby Nobel, Maya Noronha, Marilyn Quigley, Jennifer Stefano, and Hannah Zakaria.
“IWF is thrilled to welcome our newest class of fellows,” said Hadley Heath Manning, policy director at Independent Women’s Forum. “These women are leaders in their fields, from education to health care to law and more. They bring experience from working in federal government agencies, advocating at the state level, teaching in universities, and other rich backgrounds, and they will surely contribute to IWF’s mission of championing policies that make women better off.”
PA Elk Video
I just returned from a reporting trip in Pennsylvania where I filmed three new CFACT “Conservation Nation” videos. On my way home, I decided to pop by the near-ish town of Benezette, the Keystone State’s Elk Capital, to check out the visitor center and see if I could spot some elk.
While driving around the area, my friend Madison spotted this beautiful young bull elk munching on grass in someone’s backyard. I parked safely on the public road, snapped some photos, and did my best to not disturb it.
Madison captured my reaction below:
I’ll make a vlog about this experience and post it on YouTube (where I just became eligible for monetization) later next week. Stay tuned for it!
