Good evening,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Catch Me at FreedomFest in Memphis Next Month
I’m excited to return to FreedomFest this summer and speak on another gun panel again.
This year’s event takes place from July 12-15, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee—a welcome reprieve from the Vegas heat.
I’ll be speaking on the first day of conference- at 1pm CT on July 12th, 2023 - on the Fact or Fiction: Gun Rights Cause Gun Violence panel alongside Spike Cohen, Maj Toure, and fellow Young Voices commentator Cody Wisniewski.
Are you coming to Memphis? Let me know. I hope to see you there!
Greta Thunberg Was Wrong: Humanity Thrived Because of Fossil Fuels
I was in disbelief to see my new Washington Examiner op-ed trigger many people—particularly angry preservationist alarmists. These folks are inherently angry. Such a pity.
For instance, Huffington Post’s “environment” reporter derided my work as ‘half-baked” while a known lunatic internet troll who’s targeted other conservatives invaded my Inbox wishing me bodily harm and that I get cancer.
All because I wrote a compelling - and well-sourced, I might add - column refuting climate activist Greta Thunberg’s claim that humanity will end on June 21, 2023 (five years before) due to continued use and reliance on fossil fuels. As predicted, she was very wrong—thus, prompting these bizarre responses.
I drew my musings heavily from readily available government data. Are the Energy Information Agency (EIA) and Department of Energy engaging in wrong think too, or just little ol’ me?
These visceral responses mean one thing: I was on-target and did nothing wrong. I was very gentle and didn’t attack Ms. Thunberg personally. But how dare I tout fossil fuels today, right? Criminal. In their eyes, I need to be summarily re-educated for not towing the preservationist environmental line.
I will NEVER bend to these folks. Ever. I stand by my work and organizations that partner with me.
Here’s an excerpt of the column the alarmists don’t want you to read:
Climate activist Greta Thunberg tweeted five years ago that catastrophic climate change will wipe out humanity unless the world forgoes fossil fuel usage and ceases consumption.
But to Thunberg’s dismay, her prediction didn’t exactly pan out. On the contrary, realizing this, she quietly deleted her tweet in March in anticipation of Wednesday’s anniversary. While gone, it forever lives in our hearts as a reminder not to fret over reactionary, alarmist predictions.
In fact, humanity has sustained itself today due to continued fossil fuel usage, not in spite of it.
Let’s begin with oil, which is often blamed for our societal woes. Despite being assigned a dirty image by preservationist environmentalists, it’s the lifeblood of civilization and an essential resource here in America. Could you imagine our first-world society without oil? Life would be miserable, uncomfortable, and harder. Petroleum and its byproducts are ubiquitous in our daily lives. We fuel our cars, boats, and homes with it. Our clothes are derived from it, as are our cellphones and computers. It’s inescapable. Why get rid of it?
Pre-Save Madison Hughes’ Next Single: “The Heartbreak Kid”
Y’all, I’m SO excited for this new song to drop and know you will be too.
My uber talented collaborator and friend, Madison Hughes, is releasing the sister song to her breakout country tune “You or the Whiskey” a week from today.
Enter “The Heartbreak Kid.” It boasts a catchy rhythm, playful lyrics, and a great melody. Trust me: Count on it being road trip playlist material this summer. I’d even wager it’ll be a bigger hit than YOTW.
Previously, Billboard Magazine showered praised on “Whiskey” after it landed on Spotify’s New Country Music Friday playlist back in March. It even got played on the most watched show on TV: The Five on Fox News Channel. If this happens again - and it very well could- this song could equally fare well or better.
Here’s a sampling:
Pre-save “The Heartbreak Kid” on iTunes and Spotify.
