Good evening,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Quick Thoughts
Tomorrow - March 16th - is my birthday. How did it creep up so quickly? More on reaching “peak Millennial” status in a few days. Ha!
Support and follow the work of IWF’s Center for Energy and Conservation today if you haven’t already.
NOAA Fisheries/Commerce Department is closer to finalizing its Atlantic Ocean vessel speed rule. The rule would be a lose-lose for boaters, anglers, and whales. Over 800K jobs and $230 billion in related economic contributions will be jeopardized by the 11.5 miles-per-hour vessel speed limit for half the year.
Outdoor Voices will be closing its physical stores to shift to an online-only model.
The EPA’s final EV mandate, billed as a tailpipe emissions standard, will drop this Wednesday.

That’s it for this week. Stay tuned for next Friday’s update!

My friend and frequent collaborator, Madison Hughes, has a fiery new single called Hate That I Love You out NOW.

Lithuania Exhibit Opens at VOC Museum Today
I’m proud to be an American with immediate roots in Lithuania. 🇱🇹 🇺🇸
As many of you know, my parents came to the U.S. in January 1986 as political refugees. Five years later in mid-March, I came into the picture. Our heritage greatly influences my political views, and love of nature. My parents ensured that their first-born, an American, would be cognizant of family history. Today, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation Museum in Washington, D.C., invited us to the unveiling of their new traveling exhibit “From the Soviet Red Flag to the Lithuanian Tricolor: 50 Years of Struggle for Freedom.”
From 1939 to 1989, Lithuania was illegally occupied by the Soviet Union. Countless Lithuanians suffered and were killed in this time frame. My grandpa survived 18 months in one of Stalin’s gulags. This past Monday, March 11, Lithuania celebrated 34 years of restoration of independence. And for the next six months, VOC Museum in DC will highlight a traveling exhibit in conjunction with the Genocide and Resistance Centre of Lithuania and Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights to bring this sordid history and Lithuanian resilience to light.
Lithuania is an under-appreciated American ally that shares our values of freedom and distrust of big government, pays their NATO GDP quotient on time, and is a tireless freedom defender.
If you come to DC, please pay the museum a visit and learn about this tiny but impactful Baltic nation.
