A Post-Midterm Palate Cleanser
Let’s not beat around the bush: Election Day was underwhelming in terms of Republican performance.
The House should in the GOP’s favor—albeit a small majority. There’s still a path to Senate control, although it minimum it’ll be 50-50. Don’t get me started on 2024 talk yet, but I agree with my Lieutenant Governor. I’ll leave it there for now…
Now for the palate cleanser.
My friend and frequent collaborator Madison Hughes—most recently a contestant on Season 22 of NBC’s The Voice—performed at her high school in Northern Virginia this morning to a warm reception.

And I scored some late-season apple butter donuts at The Apple House in Linden, Virginia, after Madison and I recorded a segment for American Music Experience in Winchester.
The Apple House Restaurant & Gift Shop was established in 1963. It’s conveniently located off I-66 going towards the north entrance to Shenandoah National Park.
I was a fan of the taxidermy art and many apple-themed (and non-apple themed) goodies.
