Good evening,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
Biden Policies Are Endangering Maine Lobstermen and Right Whales
The Maine lobster industry is a constant target of radical preservationist environmentalists. If their attacks persist, the industry is sadly at risk of going extinct.
That’s terrible for American conservation.
Earlier this fall, the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch “Red List” issued a warning to avoid eating American lobster on account of the alleged harm the industry causes endangered North Atlantic right whales.
By red listing American lobster, Seafood Watch tarnished the sterling reputation of workharding people responsible for harvesting 82% of the nation’s lobster catch. Prompted by this flawed decision, the Marine Stewardship Council also suspended the Gulf of Maine’s MSC certificate effective December 15th, 2022.
These attacks aren’t isolated. The Biden administration seeks to regulate the lobster industry on these grounds too. And in doing so, their actions will result in the endangerment of both lobstermen and rare North Atlantic right whales.
#IWReads Book Club with Nikki Haley
A week from today, I’ll be co-moderating the next Independent Women’s Network #IWReads Book Club event with former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley with IWF Chairman Heather Higgins.
Haley is the author of the bestseller If You Want Something Done… and is also the former Governor of South Carolina. I reviewed the book for Townhall earlier this fall.
In addition to highlighting the Iron Lady, Haley introduces readers to nine other extraordinary women: former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Jeane Kirkpatrick, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, Cindy Warmbier, Nadia Murad, Virginia Walden Ford, Claudette Colvin, Virginia Hall, Wilma Rudolph, and Amelia Earhardt.
Rest assured, these women aren’t simply admired for trivial reasons. They are deserving of the accolades heaped their way. Our culture, aided and abetted by many media figures, sadly undervalue their contributions.
Haley should be applauded for spotlighting bold, courageous women. And book reviewers seem to agree, too.
This event will be live-streamed at 1pm ET. RSVP here.
Mentoring The Net Generation of Conservative Journalists
From Instagram: “Whatever industry you work in, it’s important to pay it forward and mentor up & comers. I returned to Media Research Center last Friday to chat with current interns and impart some wisdom about working in media. Great to be joined by my good friend @mvespa1 of @townhallmedia and @brentscher of @washingtonfreebeacon . Thanks for having us MRC Alum, @cari_lancaster. Really enjoyed mentoring @peyton_e211 this semester, first connecting with @laurenmshank @jason.cohen98 at the gala, and meeting MRC Fellow Mickey Wootten. Good luck and may you have success in your respective careers! Excited to see what you all do. 😊”
