President-elect Trump’s last major energy cabinet nominee was announced tonight: Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright as Energy Secretary.
Wright tweeted this about his nomination: “I am honored and grateful for the opportunity from @realDonaldTrump to serve our country as U.S. Secretary of Energy. My dedication to bettering human lives remains steadfast, with a focus on making American energy more affordable, reliable, and secure. Energy is the lifeblood that makes everything in life possible. Energy matters. I am looking forward to getting to work.”
The Energy Department nominee has worked closely with Doug Burgum, incoming Interior Secretary and fellow member of the inaugural National Energy Council.
“As Secretary of Energy, Chris will be a key leader, driving innovation, cutting red tape, and ushering in a new ‘Golden Age of American Prosperity and Global Peace,'” Trump said in a statement. "He has worked in Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Oil and Gas.”
"Most significantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American Energy Independence, and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics,” the president-elect added.
You might recall three years ago Mr. Wright and his company were in a campaign rebuking lefty outdoor retailer North Face for denying Innovex Downhole Solutions an order for 400 corporate jackets.
In response, Wright and his company launched the “Thank You, North Face” billboard campaign in support of Innovex. Via Fox Business:
Chris Wright, the CEO of Denver-based Liberty Oilfield Services, is spearheading the campaign by putting up billboards around North Face's Denver offices and launching a website and social media campaign, dubbed "Thank you, North Face."
The idea for the campaign started after North Face denied an order of jackets to a Texas oil and gas company reportedly because the popular fleece maker did not want its outdoor brand affiliated with the fossil fuel business.
Unlike DOI, DOE oversees nuclear energy development and our nuclear weapons stockpile.
I expect Mr. Wright will supercharge all reliable sources (oil, gas, coal, and nuclear), steer the department away from net-zero jargon, and scale down unreliable solar and wind.
My Center for Energy and Conservation looks forward to working with Mr. Zeldin at EPA, Mr. Burgum at DOI, and Mr. Wright at DOE.
North Face refuses to sell 400 fleece jackets to fossil fuel oriented company. Fleece is a petroleum based fabric. Mmmm?
