Good afternoon!
Welcome to “Outsider on the Inside”! I’m glad to have you here.
In this installment of the newsletter I will discuss the PRO Act, interviews, and podcasts you ought to check out.
Enjoy!
Displacing 59M Freelancers Has Nothing to Do with Infrastructure
This past Wednesday, it was reported the Protect the Right to Organizing (PRO) Act, falsely billed as a “pro-worker” bill, is being included in the "infrastructure bill” being referred to as the American Jobs Plan.
How does displacing 59M freelancers have anything to do with rehabilitating crumbling roads, bridges, and buildings?
NOTHING.
And while we’re at it, it’s pathetic to refer to this plan as an “infrastructure bill” when only 5 percent of the bill addresses these issues.
Give me a break.
“She Thinks” Podcast Appearance
I joined IWF Senior Fellow Beverly Hallberg on her “She Thinks” podcast today!
Here's more on the "She Thinks" podcast:
"She Thinks is a podcast for women (and men) who are sick of the spin in today’s news cycle and are seeking the truth. Once a week, every week, She Thinks host Beverly Hallberg is joined by guests who cut through the clutter and bring you the facts. You don’t have to keep up with policy and politics to understand how issues will impact you and the people you care about most. You just have to keep up with us. We make sure you have the information you need to come to your own conclusions. Because, let’s face it, you’re in control of your own life and can think for yourself. You can listen to the latest She Thinks episode(s) here or wherever you get your podcasts."

April 7th | POMA Webinar
I'm hosting a POMA Insights Webinar entitled, "Navigating the Pitching Wilderness" on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021, from 11am-12pm ET.
During this session, I'll speak to attendees on how to successfully nail pitches to endemic (outdoor industry related) and non-endemic (non-industry related) publications.
The session is open to both members (free to attend) and non-members ($49.00) alike.
POMA stands for the Professional Outdoor Media Association. Its mission is “to foster excellence in communications at all levels, help members build their businesses, connect media and industry, promote fair and honest communication of the traditional outdoor sports and conservation stories, and mentor the next generation of traditional outdoor sports communicators”
I hold membership there and am running for a spot on the Board of Directors, too.
If you're interested in attending, let me know. I hope you can join in!
ICYMI: District of Conservation Podcasts You Glossed Over
Make sure you add my podcast, District of Conservation, to your list.
The gist:
District of Conservation is a podcast highlighting the incredible conservationists who thrive and survive deep in or around "The Swamp." These are the policymakers, storytellers, trailblazers, and hardworking folks who go unnoticed but shape this region—whether they live or work here. In addition to guests, the podcast will also cover difficult and even controversial conservation public policy matters and news.
