Meet the newest member of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM) is a new Republican member serving in the 117th Congress.
NM’s 2nd Congressional District encompasses Las Cruces, Roswell, southern Albuquerque, and several National Parks: White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns.
She beat an incumbent Democrat to flip New Mexico's 2nd Congressional District back into the Republican column. She was sworn-in January 3rd, 2021.
Herrell is the first Republican Native American representative and first Cherokee woman to serve in Congress. She serves on the House Natural Resources and Oversight Committees.
Born and raised in New Mexico, Yvette Herrell served for 4 terms in the New Mexico House of Representatives. As a state representative, Yvette put people before politics, championing our small businesses and representing our rural values in Santa Fe.
