Good evening,
For you newbies out there, welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder and make sure we’re connected on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Hazy Wild West Film Trip
Move over, Brats. It’s Pronghorn Antelope Summer. For me, it is.
The pronghorn antelope, if you weren’t aware, is the fastest land animal in North America - averaging 60 miles per hour. It can allegedly out-run a cheetah, too.
This month, I’ve been channeling my inner pronghorn. Traveling nonstop, back-to-back. Now I get a well-deserved break until my upcoming European vacation.
I want to briefly reminisce about my time in northern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming from this last week. My videographer Madison Hughes and I were filming another installment of our CFACT “Conservation Nation” series, involving another controversial crop of onshore wind projects. (See our Lava Ridge coverage.)
We traversed Loveland (CO), Ames Monument, and Laramie.
Then we headed to Cheyenne to attend the “Daddy of Them All” Rodeo, Cheyenne Frontier Days, for Tuesday night’s Last Cowboy Standing event.
It was smoky for the duration of our stay, thanks to Canadian wildfires and smoke from nearby raging fires. Combined with high altitude, it’s not the most ideal filming condition. But we are troopers and tackle any weather thrown our way.
After our 1.5 days of filming, I rounded out my time in the Mountain West at the ALEC conference in Denver. All I got was food and drink picks. I’ll take it.
Politics aside, I can appreciate the Denver vibes (but not the Rocky Mountain High). I hope to make it back for a proper trip in the future.
Until then, be on the lookout for at least three more Conservation Nation videos - including this Wyoming one - to drop before year’s end.
