Good afternoon!
Welcome to Outsider on the Inside. I hope this dispatch from in and around the nation’s capital on underreported topics finds you well.
If you’re just discovering my musings, here’s a backgrounder.
Here’s what I have for you today:
Can’t Wait to Serve on POMA’s Board of Directors
On Friday, the results of Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA)’s Board of Directors elections were announced.
And it so happens I won one of six open seats to fill the board.
Upon learning the news, I was in disbelief. I was completely floored and thrilled to learn of this good news. Happy camper here!
Although I’ve worked in politics for the better part of a decade, I’ve never ran for any elected position. I’ve sworn off running for political office and dread it actually. (Also considering where I live, I’d never win in a Democrat-majority district. Sorry guys and gals!). I have, however, been appointed to positions on my college student council and several conservation organizations. So winning my first actual “race” was very gratifying.
All in all, I’m grateful to all voting members who supported my candidacy and voted for me. I’m humbled by your support and cannot wait to get started. And congratulations to my fellow new board members: Jen Ripple, Kevin Reese, Tom Keer, John Snow, Matt Soberg, and Lindsay Thomas, Jr. I can’t wait to serve alongside them, our incoming president Michelle Scheuermann, current board members (Kevin Paulson, Nick Hoffman, and Brad Luttrell), and expand our organization’s reach!
If you’re unfamiliar with Professional Outdoor Media Association, its mission is “to foster excellence in communications at all levels, help members build their businesses, connect media and industry, promote fair and honest communication of the traditional outdoor sports and conservation stories, and mentor the next generation of traditional outdoor sports communicators.”
If you’re a budding outdoor communicator, consider attending our upcoming Business Conference in Franklin, TN. It’ll be held from June 15-17, 2021. If you use the code POMA 125, you’ll get all conference perks (attendance, meals, activities, etc.) and POMA membership for the remainder of 2021.
Want to join POMA? I’m happy to answer any questions about membership. Learn more here and consider attending our conference next month.
